cant go thought 3 walls. i tried it and gave up. The picture quality is very bad. I used it for 1 time. don't waste your money
I've been using this product for a month and I'm very pleased with the purchase. Pretty good video, though not quite as clear as the TV in the living room but good enough to watch and the audio is clear. This is so you don't block it when using the remote in the living room. I returned it and bought this 5.8GHz model. There is only one wall between the living room and bed room and it transmits without any problem. MUCH BETTER. I first bought a 2.4GHz Wireless A/V sender and found out real quick there was way too much interference from either my cordless phone, wireless access point, both mine and many others in my condo building, microwave or all of the above. Two things to note about this 5.8GHz model is the IR remote is rather large so you have to place near but not over the IR sensor on the DVR cable box.
I bought this wireless AV sender so I could watch my recorded shows from my living room DVR in my bedroom when I want. Both rooms have a flat screen and separatd by one wall. Second, I noticed sometimes if walk in front of the receiver in the bedroom, the sound crackles a bit but as soon as I get out of the way, the audio is clear again. The antena is very easy to aim.
For the rcvr, I plugged it into the wall, and connected the RCA plugs to the back of the TV. This device does exactly what it says it does. Turned on the TV and set it to video input and we were working. It took minutes to install and set up. I simple plugged in the xmitter to the power and plugged in the RCA outputs from my cable box. We had to slightly adjust the antenna and we tried the various transmit channels and found that channel 3 was the best. I have not tested the remote control RF repeater since I'm using the TV 2 output from a Dish HD box which uses a UHF remote control that works from all over my house so no need for the RF repeater for my setup.
I was considering cutting holes in walls, running coax cable through walls and all that. The antenna is a little sensitive, so just work with it a little. You can put the control box practially anywhere out of sight. Then I accidentally spotted this item and thought, what the heck. It is virtually out-of-sight. Wow, what a relief. A bunch of work. The remote control booster works really good and is very handy.
It works really good. Easy to set up and it saved my walls and probably my house. I taped mine to the underside of the kitchen cabinet next to the 15" LCD mounted to the underside as well. If you want to place a TV in an out-of-the-way location, you've got to get one of these.
Please don't get me wrong. the reception was nothing short of horrific. At first I thought it was just my remote TV going out, but then I started having issues with my wireless computer network too. Several reviewers noted that most similar products have a 2.4GHz transmission rate (like my old one) that can cause interference with other wireless stuff such as telephones and computer networks, so the 5.8GHz transmission rate of the RF-Link seemed to make sense as a possible solution to my problems. But something seemed to change after the "digital TV conversion" happened (whether or not it was just a coincidence is pure speculation). At any rate, I've always had some popping and cracking when someone walked through the path of the transmitter/receiver, but the reception on my remote TV got really bad as well. After several months of ever increasing frustration with my old AngelTrax wireless CATV transmitter/receiver, I finally decided it was time to look for something new. After reading the reviews for the RF-Link AVS-5811, I decided to take a chance.
The new LCD TV's reception/picture is fabulous; there's no popping/cracking; and although may be too early to tell for sure, my wireless computer network has been working flawlessly.Needless to say, I'm a VERY happy camper, and couldn't be more pleased with this purchase.As a final endorsement, I should state that the placement of my RF-Link is pretty challenging. SOOO. Although the transmitter is only about 15' away from the receiver, the signal passes through two walls of a kitchen pantry (which is filled with metal cans, foil, etc).Trust me. Another coincidence. I've had the AngelTrax for many years and it worked great. All I can say is: Hallelujah, Amen.
the signal to the remote computer started dropping out sporadically for no apparent reason. The final straw came when I bought a new 19" LCD TV and hooked it up. The RF-Link is worth it's weight in diamonds. BUY THIS THING.
